  • Not bad; not exceptional. So what is it? Kinda average I suppose. Nothing to get very excited about.

  • Indispensable reference for beginning pianists, songwriters, and keyboardists. Especially useful for keyboardists using arranger keyboards. The illustrations in this dictionary cleary show the best positions for left hand accompaniment. The guide also includes bass clef notation (left hand music staff and notes) as well as exact fingering for left hand. This dictionary includes all major chords as well as 23 subordinate chords for each major chord (major, minor, diminished, augmented, seventh, minor seventh, ninth, augmented eleventh, and so on). The most practical position is shown for each chord, either root, 1st inversion, or 2nd inversion. For example, the two dozen C chords are shown 2nd inversion (GEC – which is the most practical way to play the C chord when playing accompaniment), while the two dozen G chords are shown in root position (GBD). If you don’t like the position shown, you can use the illustrations as an aid to easily formulate the root, 1st inversion, or 2nd inversion that you prefer – I assume as a pianist that you always have a pencil nearby and are accustomed to marking up your music books. I purchased multiple copies of the Piano Chord Dictionary. If I feel compelled to give one to a friend, I’ll always be able to hold onto one for myself!

  • This is a ready guide to have by your piano. I am just learning so the chords I know are the simplest ones but you can look up and try various chords with your old melodies and “rewrite music” if you have some time. It is a handy reference and appears to be complete.

  • I am an amateur violinist. I wanted to know the notes in the complex chords that sometimes appear in sheet music that I play. The “Piano Chord Dictionary” gave me the information I desired and the price was right.
