How to convert guitar chords to piano notes?

I have a few songs that I would love to convert to piano notes (beginner/intermediate level) and I just don’t know how. I googled it and couldn’t find the right thing. Anyone have any idea how to convert guitar chords to piano notes? I will play piano chords if I absolutely have to though I would rather play notes (for the accurate pitch).

Well, you could take the names of the guitar chords, take a piano chord book, and play the piano chords of the corresponding names. It should sound the same, unless you play on a different octave or a different variation, i.e. different individual note order.

If you want to convert tabs to sheets, then you must learn all the notes of the guitar fretboard individually and use those on the piano. More preferably, there are guitar tablature programs that can show tabs in traditional, standard musical notation.

Examples include PowerTab and TuxGuitar, which are free, and Guitar Pro (#), which is paid. Guitar Pro and TuxGuitar can also show the keys that are pressed on the keyboard according to which notes you highlight, but I’m not sure if PowerTab can do that.

Well,,, You don’t do it that way,, Chords “are” chords,,,Guitar or piano, they are the same.. They sound differant because the piano is a “differant” instrument then the guitar.. “THE NOTES ARE THE SAME” Its very simple,,Just learn and play the melody,,And then add the chords that sound good to”you”, And thats It, “YOU WILL NEVER GET A GUITAR SOUND ON YOUR PIANO” They “JUST” don’t sound the same,

The guitar and piano book at http://www.stringtheorychords.com provides guitar and piano chords right next to eachother. All of the chords are based on the guitar voicings.

It sounds like you are asking how to play a single note on the piano to match the guitar chord. If the guitar chord is C Major, C Minor, C Seventh, C (anything), you simply play a C note on the piano. D Major, Minor, etc, play a D note. These single notes are known as ‘roots’ or ‘tonics’ of chords. This is the same thing a bass player does when he plays with a guitar, although he will often embellish with other notes. I would recommend not just playing a single C note but two C notes with the same hand or both hands to get a fuller sound.

I can see that no one answered this question properly. if you know how to play guitar, you know that the strings are EADGBE. When you play a chord….say a C Chord, the guitar tab is:
    x32010
or you can play the barre chord: 335553

Every fret on the guitar is a half-step on the piano.. So if you want to play a C chord, based on the tab x32010:

    1) you leave out the E string, so you consequently leave out the E note on the piano.
    2) you play 3 half steps higher on the A string. So that’s a C!!

That’s a gist on how to convert tabs to piano. hope this helps!
